Andre was born in Vancouver, Canada before moving to Dolgellau at a young age. He studied Law at Aberystwyth University before becoming a Solicitor at Dolgellau based Firm, Guthrie Jones & Jones in 2008 where he stayed for the next 9 years working in Dolgellau and Harlech before joining Alwena Jones & Bright as Partner in 2017.
When he’s not working, Andre can be found running and mountain biking and he has completed over nineteen marathons including running the full length of Hadrian’s Wall – 70 miles in a day!
Alwena was born and bred in Blaenau Ffestiniog and she studied Law at Liverpool and Chester before working as a Magistrates Court Clerk which brought her into contact with the Tywyn area.
She started her practice in Blaenau Ffestiniog in March 1994 and opened the Tywyn office in June 1994 which she ran for the next 23 years mainly as a sole practitioner. Alwena formed the partnership of Alwena Jones & Bright with Andre Bright in September 2017.
Alwena is very proud of her roots in Blaenau Ffestiniog where her father was a slate quarry rockman. Alwena has always believed that it is important to be approachable, friendly and to strive to provide a professional service.
Outside work Alwena’s main interest is Welsh art.
Hannah joined Alwena Jones & Bright in August 2022 as an Associate Solicitor having moved to the area from Cheshire earlier that year. As Hannah's reputation grew so did her position within the firm, and at the beginning of 2024 Hannah became a Director.
Hannah studied History at Chester University, before deciding to convert her undergraduate degree via the Graduate Diploma in Law at the University of Law. She then completed the Legal Practice Course combined with a masters in Law and Business. She qualified as a Solicitor in November 2019 and spent the first part of her career working at a law firm in Manchester.
Hannah has been known to be a bit of a nomad having previously lived in Merseyside, North Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Cheshire, though when she became fed up with hours of commuting on gridlocked motorways, she decided to move away from the concrete jungle and settle in Gwynedd. She now enjoys all things that living in a rural seaside area brings, such as walks along the beach and hiking up mountains, (always accompanied by her Border Collie, Aoife).
Izzy joined Alwena Jones & Bright in November 2023 as a Trainee Solicitor moving from Nottingham to Barmouth. Izzy studied Law at the University of Lincoln and graduated from her undergraduate degree in 2021, she then completed the Legal Practice Course with Masters at the University of Law at the University of Sheffield Campus.
Izzy enjoys walks with her dogs, travelling and attending as many gigs as she can. She has also been a season ticket holder for Nottingham Forest since she was 7 and attends all the home games.
Caroline initially joined us as part of our administration team before becoming a legal executive, taking an active role in running day to day property transactions. A local to the Barmouth area, she is an active member of the local yacht club and is currently training for her sailing qualification. In her free time she enjoys paddle boarding and spending time with her husband Russell, who runs Barmouth Stand Up Paddleboarding, and 3 children (not to forget their jack russell Milo!)
Clare Heady is our Accounts Manager, and is originally from Stourport in the West Midlands. She has lived in Barmouth for over 16 years with her husband and their two children aged 8 and 12.
Clare previously juggled various jobs around childcare and then began working remotely as a bookkeeper which she enjoyed so much she then completed her first year of her AAT Qualifications.
In 2018 Clare joined Alwena Jones and Bright as a part time Legal Secretary. This quickly progressed to working on the accounts and with time, became the Accounts Manager. Her role includes many tasks including updating client ledgers, billing, moving money on house purchases and sales, as well as administering money on Estates. She'll also deal with payroll, office payments and assist with the day to day running of the office.
Out of work Clare enjoys walks on the beach with her Beagle, Chloe. Clare and her family like to make the most of their weekends on camping holidays around the UK.
Wendy joined the team at the Blaenau Ffestiniog office in 2013 as a Legal Secretary and was born and bred in the Ffestiniog area. Wendy is a passionate supporter of the Welsh language and is more than happy to converse in her mother tongue. When not at work Wendy enjoys heading out to the Canary Islands to unwind.
Yasmin graduated from Bangor University in 2020 with a degree in Business and Management. Yasmin previously worked in the Insurance Industry, and through this gained a great interest in Property. She joined Alwena Jones & Bright in 2022 as a Legal Secretary and soon after also became an assistant to our Accounts Department. Outside of work she enjoys long hikes in the mountains with her cockapoo, Rolo.
During the COVID lockdown she continued to build her skillset, gaining qualifications in suicide awareness as she has a keen interest in mental health. Travel has always been a big part of Yasmin's life, having travelled to the USA, Bahamas, Italy, France, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Belgium and Turkey, and the next adventure being just around the corner!
Charlotte is originally from Birmingham but moved to Wales in 2006 and has lived in Harlech since then.
A keen writer, Charlotte won a competition in 2015 and now has a plaque bearing her name outside the Millenium Centre in Cardiff. Charlotte began working at Alwena Jones & Bright Solicitors in 2019 as a Legal Secretary and is currently studying a Law Degree with the Open University. Outside of work Charlotte enjoys the great outdoors, enjoying hiking in the mountains and regularly enjoying walks on the local beaches with her family. She also has a keen love of animals, particularly dogs. This year, due to Charlotte’s hard work and determination, she was able to buy her dream car, which had been on her wish list for as long as she could remember. She has plans to experience much more of the world in the near future and has a keen interest in travel and culture.
Amy graduated in 2017 at the University of Liverpool as a Bachelor of Laws and later moved to Australia on a working holiday before returning home and joining our firm. Amy has been a part of the team since October 2020 as a Legal Secretary. Her free time is spent hiking up in the mountains of Eryri, catching sunsets and sunrises as well as chasing waterfalls with her little dog, Sandi. She recently conquered Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
Jen joined us in August 2021. Having always been an animal lover she has her own menagerie including Zwartbles sheep, pygmy goats and a gorgeous dog called Honey. Jen is also a self-confessed travelaholic, enjoying trips all over the world and is passionate about trying new experiences and learning about other cultures.
In a previous life, Jen has also worked as a pony trekking guide, a veterinary assistant, been a First Responder working with the Wales Ambulance Service and has also led a community choir, teaching songs from all around the world.
Kes is the youngest member of our secretarial team, based in the Barmouth office, having joined in July of 2022. Having grown up in Barmouth, Kes studied Law, Sociology and Geography before settling with the firm and becoming a valued member of our team.
Growing up locally Kes has enjoyed a lifetime of having access to all the locality has to offer and is a keen paddleboarder and swimmer, having won both sailing and rock climbing competitions. Kes is passionate about caring for the environment and can often be found litter picking to help keep our beaches and seas clean. Kes has spent time exploring the Falkand Islands, whale watching and discovering all the nature and wildlife the incredible destination has to offer.
Emma graduated from the University of Chester in 2020 with a degree in Business and Events Management. After graduation Emma moved back to Wales and began working at a John Lewis Hotel where she remained for 2 years and learnt many skills, before starting at Alwena Jones & Bright in August 2023. Emma is also studying a Legal Secretary Diploma to expand her knowledge.
Outside of work Emma enjoys long walks on the beach, eating good food and being a shopaholic!
